Product engineer role building AI agents and geospatial systems for energy and infrastructure permitting and risk analysis. Work spans React/NextJS frontend, Python/FastAPI and Temporal backend, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, and Kubernetes, with LLMs from several providers and MapLibre/QGIS for maps. Blumen is building the regulatory intelligence layer for American infrastructure. Our platform combines regulatory information with more than 2,500 geospatial datasets to help energy companies and environmental consultants understand the permits, constraints, and risks facing a project in hours instead of weeks.
We are a small, fast-moving team tackling a huge market at the moment AI is beginning to reshape professional services. Someone joining now will help define both Blumen and the future of environmental work in infrastructure development.
We are looking for a product engineer to build AI and geospatial systems for energy and infrastructure risk analysis. You will have substantial product ownership, working directly with the team and customers to decide what to build and improve it after it ships.
You understand the problem before choosing tools or proposing solutions. No permitting experience required, but you must enjoy diving deep into complex problems and learning new domains.
You care about the details that make a product useful to customers, even when the work is tedious. You take responsibility for mistakes, accept feedback, and change your approach when the evidence calls for it. You explain decisions plainly, share context with teammates, and flag problems early so others can help.
