You will also review requirements, design, code, and HDL using checklists. The ideal candidate will be familiar with ARP 4754A, DO-178C, DO-331, and DO-254, and capable of facilitating all FAA/DER reviews (SO1-1 to SO1-4 for software, and the equivalent DO-254 stages of involvement for airborne electronic hardware).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and conduct flight-critical tests and reviews of the Flight Control System software per DO-178C and DO-331
  • Plan and execute Display software V&V per DO-178C, including requirements-based testing of display formats, symbology, pilot interactions, alerting, and data interfaces, and develop automated display test frameworks and test executives
  • Plan and execute FPGA firmware verification per DO-254, including requirements-based HDL simulation, test bench development, code coverage analysis, elemental analysis, and in-target hardware testing
  • Develop embedded systems test benches and perform processor-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop testing across multiple software, display, and FPGA components
  • Develop verification testing tools and automation, qualify the test stand, and develop qualification procedures for the same
  • Develop and maintain software and hardware certification plans and artifacts (e.g., SVP, HVP, verification tests and procedures, verification results, and compliance reports)
  • Perform structural coverage analysis for software (LDRA or equivalent) and HDL code coverage for FPGA designs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in software, firmware, or hardware engineering in the certification of software and systems
  • Experience developing software or hardware test and verification documents
  • Experience with dSPACE or similar HIL tools
  • Experience in Python, C, C++, and MATLAB
  • Working knowledge of CAN, RTD, serial communication, ARINC 429, and UART

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering
  • Experience designing, developing, verifying, and certifying display software per DO-178C
  • Experience verifying and certifying FPGA designs per DO-254 (DAL A/B preferred), including proficiency in VHDL and/or Verilog, SystemVerilog, UVM, or cocotb test benches, and HDL simulation and synthesis tools such as Questa/ModelSim, Vivado, or Libero
  • Experience with lab equipment for in-hardware verification (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and influence the organization
