About Coast →

The full posting

Coast is building the smart financial infrastructure powering America's fleets. AI is fundamentally changing how fleets run their financial operations, and we're shaping the tools this new era requires.

Founded in 2020, Coast has become the payments and expense management platform of choice for the 500,000 fleets and 40 million vehicles that keep the country moving by giving fleet owners and operators control, visibility, and trust over how their businesses spend.

In an industry where complexity is the norm, we're building something simple yet opinionated and focused: software that field owners, managers, and workers actually want to use. Every member of our fully co-located team is a builder who demonstrates high agency, ownership, and urgency every day. We also care deeply about bringing modern, well-crafted tools to the trades; an industry that's been underserved for too long. This mindset drives everything we do, from product decisions to hiring choices.

About the role

As a Staff Product Manager for Corporate Spend, you'll own the the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Coast's next generation of AI-powered expense management products. Your job is to turn fleets that already trust Coast for fuel their fuel spend into customers who run all of their company spend through us, by figuring out what's stopping them and building what gets them there. You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, data, and cross-functional stakeholders (Risk, Legal, Customer Success, Sales) to build intelligent experiences that help customers save money, reduce risk, and eliminate manual work. You'll own problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome. This role blends AI-native product development (LLM-powered workflows, evaluation systems, human-in-the-loop design) and deep product sense.

Location & work mode

Coast is an in-person company. This role is based out of our New York City office and requires in-person presence 3 to 4 days a week. We believe great products are built by people who are in the room together: collaborating closely, moving fast, and holding each other to a high bar.

  • Marry customer insights with technical possibilities, crafting intuitive user experiences that abstract away complexity
  • Drive high-velocity execution with a world-class team of engineers and designers, balancing principled intuition with data-driven decision making

  • Craft messaging around upcoming features that resonates with users
  • Enable sales and marketing teams to effectively communicate with and win with customers
  • Stay deeply plugged into AI research, industry trends, and emergent applications, filtering signal from noise and applying it creatively to Coast’s product

  • Minimum 6 years of product management or adjacent product-building experience
  • Strong product judgment and first-principles thinking across complex workflows, data products, integrations, and user experiences
  • World-class design & product taste
  • AI fluency and passion, demonstrated through hands-on experience building AI features, prototypes, or side projects, plus an understanding of evaluation, retrieval, latency, cost, safety, and accuracy tradeoffs
  • Comfort collaborating in technical environments (Figma, Git) and using modern prototyping tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor)
  • Fluency with experimentation and product metrics, plus strong instincts for when qualitative customer discovery is required
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams with urgency and ownership, set direction, make tradeoffs, and deliver measurable outcomes
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate between subject matter experts, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders
  • Shameless curiosity, a propensity to question things deeply
