Our Team

Quanata, LLC is an insurance technology innovation company that engineers advanced risk prediction and prevention solutions, develops risk-focused acquisition capabilities, and builds/supports a full-stack, flexible, digital & increasingly AI-native insurance platform. This helps our primary clients, State Farm and HiRoad Assurance Company, adapt to evolving market needs. Quanata, LLC is wholly owned and funded by State Farm.

As a company that prioritizes an inclusive and positive culture, we believe the core of our success is in hiring talented people — across disciplines — who want to help us make a quantifiable impact.

The Role

As a Senior Back End Engineer, you’ll design, build, and maintain the core services and infrastructure that power Quanata’s products and business operations. You’ll develop scalable back end systems, connect data and machine learning workflows, and help ensure the platform remains performant, reliable, and secure.

You’ll take ownership of complex product features from design through deployment while contributing to architecture, data flows, APIs, databases, observability, and platform reliability.

As a senior individual contributor, you’ll also have the opportunity to shape technical decisions and support other engineers through mentorship, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Design, develop, and maintain client-facing and internal APIs that support product and business functionality.
  • Architect and orchestrate data flows across back end services, applications, and third-party systems.
  • Design and manage database schemas and data storage solutions that support scalable applications.
  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of complex product features from concept through deployment.
  • Develop and maintain automated testing frameworks and contribute to software quality and reliability.
  • Evaluate, integrate, and support third-party services, tools, and platforms.
  • Improve system architecture, performance, observability, security, and reliability.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 6–8 years of experience in back end or full-stack software engineering roles.
  • Working knowledge of the Go programming language, and professional experience developing applications and services using Go, Python, Ruby, TypeScript, or C#
  • Experience designing, developing, debugging, and deploying high-performance client/server systems that support business-critical applications.
  • Experience with database technologies and messaging systems, including evaluating and selecting solutions based on business and technical requirements.
  • Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of software security principles, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership of technical outcomes.
  • Ability to mentor and support the growth of other engineers.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with technologies used by the team, including GraphQL, gRPC, Postgres, Mongo, Snowflake, Kafka, Python, TypeScript, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Experience in a financial sector such as insurance, banking, or investing.

Salary: $195,000 to $280,000*
